A couple weeks ago Salmon River's Superintendent and Athletic Director proposed an idea to help both football programs. Salmon River is trying to build a Varsity Team, but doesn't have the numbers right now. SLC hasn't had the numbers to field a JV team the past six seasons and in the sport of football, the transition from Modified to Varsity is a huge jump. Salmon River does have a JV team. So, the Board of Education has agreed to an agreement that would send our JV eligible players to Salmon to play JV and Salmon will in turn send their Varsity age players to SLC to play Varsity. Our Modified team will not be impacted by this at all. This is in hopes of helping to build both programs giving everyone the opportunity to play at the level they should be playing.
There will be an informational meeting to answer all questions on Monday, June 23rd at 6pm in the High School Auditorium. All parents and players entering grades 9-12 next school year are encouraged to attend. We will discuss transportation, practice times, equipment, expenses and expectations about this merger. If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact Mr. Reome's office 315-389-5131 ext 29119.
