Larries Community,

The Governor has declared that all schools will remain closed for the rest of the academic year. During the remaining closure, we will continue to provide distance learning, free meals, and coordinate child care resources for health care workers.

Student Grading Update

We understand the challenges of students learning from home. It isn’t easy! Over the past month, I have stressed two consistent themes about our emergency remote learning:
Effort counts - we asked that students are at least trying to complete assignments
Communication - we repeatedly asked that you reach out to us if having difficulty

With the difficulty of emergency learning from home, flexibility in grading is expected. We took all of this into consideration and balanced it with a student’s responsibility to continue learning as well.

McKinney-Vento Students and Covid 19
There are a number of different resources available to our families who are experiencing homelessness and our families who are in need during the Covid 19 outbreak.
Spectrum is offering free services for up to 60 days for families in need
Breakfast and Lunch programs are open to students across the County through local area schools
Community food pantry’s have options open to families
Bills have been passed preventing eviction and penalties for rent and mortgage payments
Keys to connecting: letting students know you are there for them, develop a routine, make sure they know how to get in touch with you.

Community Update April 16, 2020

Governor Andrew Cuomo has extended the school closing through May 15th as part of the NY Pause program. During this extended closure, our school will continue to provide remote learning instruction, weekly meals, and day care resources for first responders. 

It’s important that we pull together as a school community to help and support each other. Please remember that we are here for you. Whether working from home, working from home while attempting to support your own child’s remote learning, or not working and trying to support your family, this is a stressful situation. This is all compounded with the worry of illness.
