As we wait for Governor Cuomo’s decision regarding the opening of school, we have been very busy with our reopening plans. Our committees, which consist of parents, teachers, administrators, and BOE members have been meeting to develop the best possible educational scenario we can for our families.
Using the mandated guidelines we received from the NYS Education Department and the NYS Department of Health, combined with the valuable information the community submitted through our ThoughtExchange and the District Survey, we have been able to create a plan to reopen if allowed. The ReOpening Plan will be submitted to the State and released to the public on our website on Friday. The plan is a working document that may have to be adjusted as conditions change. That is the nature of the emergency situation we are under.
We will also be releasing a parent snapshot of what our school program will look like considering the mandated guidelines. The snapshot will give you the basics of our plans, as the official plan is very large in nature.
Next week we will distribute a Parent Commitment form that will ask you to make official choices for each of your child(rens) instructional format. This information is critical to our spatial planning and creation of schedules that will accommodate your choices.
We wish it was possible to safely return all children to school, at the same time, within the guidelines. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to maneuver through this complicated process.
