As we begin to deal with the reality of COVID 19 in our North Country and Governor Cuomo has extended the school closure until April 15th, I want you to know that we are here for you. There are many questions I can’t answer right now:
How many people will get sick?
When will all this be over?
When will we be back in school?
What I can tell you is that we are working hard to try and make the situation as safe and tolerable as possibly. I can’t stress enough that everyone should follow the Department of Health recommendations about COVID 19 and maintain social distancing, cover when you cough, and wash your hands frequently.
Remote learning continues on a daily basis with teachers making contact with students. We have already distributed over 750 Chromebooks and continue to provide technology assistance through telephone and email. If you are in need of a Chromebook or assistance with using it, please call the school. The following is a list of places you can go to use free Wifi if you are in need.
- Middle School Parking Lot - open access
- Tri-Town Arena Parking Lot - pull up as close to bldg as possible
- High Peaks Winery Parking Lot - pull up as close to bldg as possible
- Township 7 Parking Lot - pull up as close to bldg as possible
- Life in His Arms Church - use Guest connection - no password needed
- Hopkinton Town Library Parking Lot
If your child is having difficulty with the assigned work, please email the teacher or the principal and we can make sure help is given!
Distribution of meals continues and we have begun a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday distribution schedule this week. This is to reduce the amount of person to person contact for the safety of all. You will still see us at the following distribution sites with masks and gloves on. For protection, please remain in your vehicles:
Brasher Town Hall - 11 Factory Street, Brasher Falls
Lawrence Town Hall -11405 US Highway 11, Lawrenceville
Stockholm Town Hall - 540 State Highway 11C, Winthrop
Buckton Town Hall - 696 Buckton Road, Winthrop
Highway Department in Helena - 1900 County Route 53, Brasher Falls
We have reduced staffing to comply with the Governor’s order that non essential personnel work from home. This doesn’t mean no one is at school! We have rotating staff at school to ensure service to our school community. If you call between the hours of 8:00am - 2:00pm, someone will answer the phone. If by chance we are occupied or delivering meals, please leave a message.
As a school community we have a great challenge. Never before has our current generation had to overcome a global challenge such as this. We will meet the challenge and we will get through this!!
